Microsoft contacted me looking to make a big bang for their team bonus event that year. After reviewing their vision, it was clear that the budget was insufficient for their expectations. I believe that one of the most powerful assets any sales person can bring to negotiation is the ability to communicate expectations with honest clarity and to utilize creative ingenuity. In this situation, I didn't want to deliver a sub-par experience. However, I had another client with a similar issue. After discussing options with the client, I suggested that we put the two small groups together in order to meet their budget and expectations.
While this was a highly unusual arrangement, it answered their greatest barrier and happened to enable business opportunity for the two companies. Once the terms of the contract were negotiated, I organized all the components of their event. The select team members from Dell & Microsoft joined me on site to experience a personalized, extreme, adventure competition that exceeded their expectations.
